Emeishan Ski Resort

The gradients are gentle and the pistes and trails made wide to accomodate many skiers with plenty of elbow room – since families are one of the main target groups, safety is of prime concern. The separation of skiing areas into distinct categories, or skill levels, further contributes to the safety of the individual. The inclusion of a very large, gently sloped beginner ramp and an equally large, snowball casting and snow sculpting play area for smaller children make Emeishan Ski Resort one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in China. 

Leshan Oriental Buddha Park

Dongfang Fodu Gongyuan (Oriental Buddha Park), holds more than 3,000 Buddhist statues. The centrepiece is reputedly the world’s longest reclining Buddha, measuring 170 meters, which is the largest in the world. 

Leshan Golden Summit Temple

The Jinding, elevation 3,077 metres, is the main peak of Mount Emei, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sichuan, China. It is also a common name for the Buddhist Huazang Temple built on the summit. Jinding is the highest Buddhist temple in traditionally Han areas of China. Located atop Mount Emei is an epic statue at 48 meter so high, is the 22nd tallest statue in the world. But its height is not its most notable feature, so much as its unique head, as this massive graven image faces in ten directions, one for each of the Bodhisattva’s ‘Ten Truths of Universal Worthiness’.

Emeishan Sea of Clouds

With an elevation of about 3,079 meters, the Golden Summit of Mount Emei is the perfect location to appreciate the breathtaking sea of clouds. Most of the 72 peaks of Mount Emei are over 2,000 meters above sea level. The peaks emerge from the clouds, looking like floating islands in the sky.

Shanghai Tower

Shanghai Tower is a 632-metre, 128-story megatall skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It is the world’s second-tallest building by height to architectural top and it shares the record of having the world’s highest observation deck within a building or structure at 562 m. 

Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial

Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial is a memorial site located at the ancient town of Anren in Dayi County, Sichuan, China following the devastating Wenchuan Earthquake on 12 May 2008 in Sichuan Province of China. The memorial is built on the site of the Beichuan Middle School which collapsed killing more than 1000 pupils and teachers inside.

Zhanjiang

You may not find the name of the city in the latest edition of Lonely Planet China, but there is no question what the main attraction in Zhanjiang is – its seafood. Fringed by the sea on three sides and with five islands just off shore, Zhanjiang has many fishing ports which supply fresh and plentiful seafood that is cheap but of high quality. Among the many offerings are all manner of fish, shrimps and crabs, and exotic shellfish, sandworms, seaweed, abalones and sea cucumbers. Fortunate locals love their seafood lightly cooked, usually quickly boiled to retain all the natural sweetness.

Lixian Mysterious Oriental Castle

Founded in 111 BC, Taoping Qiang Village has a history of more than 2,000 years. In the Western Han Dynasty, it was called Guangrong County (广柔县), serving as an important pass and defense position. Through battles and wars, the village has still survived perfectly. Now, there are 98 households in the village. Taoping Qiang Village is well known as the “mysterious oriental castle” because of its typical Qiang-style architectures and its complicated road structure.

Bipenggou Valley

Bipenggou Valley, also known as Bipenggou National Park, is a natural reserve located in northern Sichuan, about 200km away from Chengdu. It enjoys a full length of 35km and a width of 4km. The main scenic area covers an occupation of 613 square meters and you get great fun in the park. Because of its unique geographic position, Bipenggou Valley is blessed with typical alpine views, including virgin forest, plateau lakes, old glaciers, snow-capped mountains, tinkling streams and waterfalls as well as primitive meadows. People regard it as the beautiful shadow of Mount Siguniang. When autumn comes, the colored foliage in Bipenggou Valley is attracts thousands of travelers flock into. Apart from its scenery, there is a large range of different species of fauna and flora.
